Top 10 Liverpool goal celebrations in recent times (including Firmino's brilliant sprint!)

Name the best ever moments in football — the greatest ever goals often pop to mind. Think Steven Gerrard's screamer against Olympiakos; Divock Origi netting the fourth goal that sent Barcelona crashing; Mo Salah's arrow into the top corner against Chelsea...

Let's all face it, great goals are the main reason why thousands turn up for football games every single week. And there is simply nothing better to round off a great goal than with a celebration to match, otherwise more affectionately known as the "cherry on top of the cake"...

Roberto Firmino's raw burst of emotions

Roberto Firmino is known for his extravagant celebrations, and the Brazilian added another into his list after scoring the dramatic winner against Tottenham. The forward clocked a personal best 100-yard sprint towards the 2,000 lucky fans, displaying an array of raw emotions — frustration, relief, joy — that you do not often see from the reserved Brazilian.

It was a celebration that will be remembered for a long, long time, and we decided to take a look at some of the best goal celebrations in recent times.

Craig Bellamy's golf swing

One of the most iconic goal celebrations, the Welsh forward — fresh off a spat with team-mate John Arne Riise — scored a goal at Camp Nou against Barcelona and celebrated in some style. The golf swing was of course inspired by a hotel dispute between the two players, where the Norwegian defender had claimed his "career could have ended" that night.

Things were rosier that night as Liverpool dispatched the Spanish giants 2-1, and no prizes for guessing who Bellamy set up for the second goal.

Steven Gerrard's kiss

A goal against arch-rivals Manchester United will always be a memorable one, and the least it deserves is a well-executed celebration. Count on the Liverpool legend to do just that, as Gerrard planted a kiss for the cameras after dispatching his penalty against Edwin van der Sar – an image that will live long in the memories of both sets of fans.

Pepe Reina's sprint

Goalkeepers celebrating goals are a sight to behold; I mean just how often does that happen? The Spaniard shot-stopper ran the length of the pitch just to embrace David Ngog and join in the party against Manchester United, writing his name into Anfield's folklore.

Alisson and a half-naked Egpytian King

Perhaps taking a leaf out of Reina's goalkeeping book, Alisson attempted a similar celebration — the Brazilian ran the same distance but topped it off with a perfect knee slide that all strikers would be proud of, into the warm, welcoming arms of a topless Mo Salah.

Again, no prizes for guessing who the unlucky opponents were that night.

A captain's celebration

If you are currently seeking some inspiration in your life, look no further than Gerrard's celebration for the first goal against AC Milan during that fateful night at Istanbul. Commentator Clive Tyldesley dubbed it as the "captain's goal", and you can see just why. His celebration was one that encapsulated his desire, belief and fighting spirit — traits that made him one of the best ever players at the club of all time. Goosebumps.

Mo Salah's yoga pose

You know a celebration is good when it makes its way into the FIFA franchise. Salah's arrow into the top corner of the Chelsea net is probably his best ever goal, and he celebrated it in some style. You do not have to go bat-shit crazy and rip off your shirt after scoring an absolute beauty — the Egyptian broke into a yoga pose amidst all the chaos and ecstasy surrounding him, and it turned out to be one of the most eloquent and classy celebrations of all time.

Daniel Sturridge's dance

A character off the pitch as much as he is a baller on it, Sturridge showcased his personality each time he scored a goal — busting out dance moves fit for a nightclub. It is a celebration not for everyone, though, as Jamie Carragher quite perfectly demonstrated.

Peter Crouch's first goal

This one makes it into the list for unique reasons. Remember the time when Crouch had considerable trouble breaking his duck for Liverpool? He was playing well for the Reds but somehow went 1,229 minutes without finding the back of the net.

And when the moment finally arrived against Wigan, you could see the pure ecstasy in the entire team and the noise that erupted in the stadium, whose collective goal celebration made it one of the most memorable moments.

It was a fluke goal, but the big man was not about to give a sh**.

Firmino's eye patch

After suffering a freak injury against Tottenham, the Brazilian revealed he was afraid he would go blind in one eye. A collision with Jan Vertonghen forced him to leave the field, but Firmino returned in some style and scored against French giants PSG, brilliantly mocking the injury with an eye patch celebration.

Which is your favourite celebration?
