Liverpool will have the chance to claim top spot of the Premier League table when they take on Brighton in an early lunchtime kickoff. We have discussed the reasons why we think a Liverpool victory is looking on the cards, and have decided to turn our attention to the romantic side of football instead.
It is not often a player returns to play against his old club and is embraced by all around, but that is certainly the case with Adam Lallana. The attacking midfielder departed in the summer, after spending six years at the club which saw him walking out of Melwood with a Premier League and Champions League medal around his neck.
Jurgen Klopp have spoken fondly of the Englishman ever since, with his recent press conference highlighting the relationship the club still shares with him.
"It's hard to miss Adam Lallana because pretty much everyone in the squad is still in touch with him," said Klopp.
We decided to take a little trip down memory lane, looking back at some of the most brilliant goals (the best four, we think) Lallana scored for the Reds ahead of this Saturday's fixture.
How many of this goals can you remember?
1. Lallana vs Newcastle United
The goal against the Magpies probably highlighted what a technically gifted player Lallana is. Capable of using both foot, Lallana curled a beauty into the top corner with his "weaker" foot from the edge of the box.
2. Lallana vs Leicester City
Another goal which demanded superb technique. This time, the number 20 relied on his instinct and improvisation, smashing the ball into the top left corner with the outside of his foot. Simply brilliant.
3. Lallana vs Norwich City
Lallana's most memorable goal surely came against Norwich in 2016, with his dramatic late goal somehow securing all three points for the Reds. Nine goals, a 95th minute winner, Klopp's smashed spectacles, Lallana ripping off his shirt — we are not sure what else is needed for this iconic goal to be in the list.
4. Lallana vs Manchester United
Any goal against Manchester United will almost always be fondly remembered by the fans, and this was no exception. Lallana's late leveller against the bitter rivals might be one of the easier goals he have scored, but surely one of the most important ones.
